About the stone
The name Chrysocolla comes from the Greek words “cyrysos” wich means “gold” and “kola” wich means “glue”. Using Chrysocolla was first recorded in 315BC and its properties were used to solder gold.
Chrysocolla is most famous for its alluring, vivid blue to green colour, which is owed to the presence of copper impurities. Chrysocolla can be found in copper deposits all around the world. The most notable Chrysocolla sources include Israel, the Congo (Zaire), Chile, England, Kolwezi, Katanga (Shaba), Mexico, Peru, Russia, and the USA (Arizona, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Michigan and Pennsylvania).
In ancient Egypt, it was called the "wise stone" because it shielded and encouraged the mind during negotiations. Those who wore it generally came up with clever compromises and resolutions and it is said that Cleopatra wore chrysocolla jewelry everywhere she went.
Chrysocolla is known as a tranquil and sustaining stone and helps with meditation and communication. It can help to accept situations that are constantly changing invoking great inner strength. It is beneficial to relationships that have become rocky stabilizing and healing personal interaction. It draws out negative energies such as guilt, heals heartache and increases the capacity to love. It is said to help overcome phobias and enhances personal power and inspires creativity.
