About the stone
Trilobites are one of the most common fossils in the world, they have been found in every continent and thrived in all areas of the planet and in all climates. There are over 20.000 known species of trilobites.
Trilobites first appeared on earth around 540 million years ago. Over the course of its life a trilobite would outgrow many shells, most trilobite fossils are in fact the discarded husks of the trilobite. Specimens that represent the actual creature, as opposed to its shuffled-off shell, are comparatively rare. The trilobite became extinct around 250 million years ago along with 90% of Earths species at the time.
At widest points including bale 5cm x 2.2cm. Trilobite fossil 3cm x 1.5cm.
