About the stones
Rose Quartz is the horoscope stone for Taurus and is famously known as the Stone of Unconditional Love.
Stone masks made out of Rose Quartz were recovered from Egyptian and Roman tombs. It was believed that wearing these stone masks would clear the complexion and remove wrinkles from the skin.
According to legend, the stone was created when the Greek God Adonis was assaulted by the God of War, Ares. Goddess Aphrodite cut herself on a briar bush while rushing to save him. Their mingled blood collected on the white quartz stone and stained it a blushing pink creating Rose Quartz.
Rose Quartz is believed to draw love and relationships towards you. In existing relationships, it’s believed to restore trust and encourage unconditional love. It’s also known as a highly healing stone and gently removes negative energies and replaces them with loving vibes.
A fairly “recent” stone sugilite was first discovered in 1944 in southwest Japan, the first known sugilites were actually tiny, yellow crystals and had no gem value. In 1955, some dark pink prismatic crystals were found in central India, however, this material wasn’t cuttable. In 1975, a core-drill sample from a manganese mine near Hotazel, South Africa revealed a thin seam of sugilite. This material had enough manganese content to give it a deep purple color. Small but significant, the deposit became the first source of gem-quality sugilite and launched the gem’s now famous association with purple. Nowadays Sugilite is mostly found in Japan, Canada, South Africa and India.
Sugilite is named after the Japanese geologist who discovered the first specimens, Ken-ichi Sugi. It is opaque with a waxy luster and ranges from a pale grayish lavender to a deep dark purple.
Sugilite is known as one of the major “love stones”. It represents love and wisdom and protects the soul from shocks, trauma and disappointments, sugilite can help bring light and love into the darkest of situations. Sugilite contains high levels of manganese and therefore is a wonderful pain reliever. It is believed to relieve headaches, arthritis pain, and pain from inflammation.
