About the stone

Larimar is a rare stone found only in the Dominican Republic. First discovered in 1916, it was re-discovered by Miguel Mendez in 1974, who named it by combining his daughter Larissa’s name with mar, Spanish for sea. Its only known source is the Filipinas Mine in Los Checheses, where deposits form as hot gases push minerals through volcanic tubes. Occasionally, it appears as alluvial deposits along the Caribbean shores, carried by the Bahoruco River. Larimar symbolizes peace, clarity, healing, and love. It helps reduce stress and anxiety, promotes calmness, empowers its wearer, and aids in overcoming fear, guilt, and self-sabotage.
