£54.00

Our One-Off Ammonite Sterling Silver Leaf Pendant (chain not included) is perfect for everyday wear or special occasions.

A gorgeous design, this pendant features an Ammonite fossil in a simple Sterling Silver setting. Encasing the Ammonite, our silversmiths have intricately crafted Sterling Silver vines that gracefully twist around the fossil, finishing off with dainty Silver leaf. Simple but with something a little different, just how we like it at Silver Scene.

Ammonites are between 65 to 240 million years old making this pendant a special gift indeed, just imagine all the things this little ammonite has seen! The ideal gift for people who love to be different or who like their jewellery to tell a story.

If you'd like a chain with this pendant, please click here for our full range of Sterling Silver chain designs. We would recommend a fine or medium thickness chain with this pendant, for example our Fine Snake, Medium Belcher or Medium Curb Chain. Chain shown in picture: Fine Snake chain.

Please be aware, that as purchased separately, they will arrive packed in separate boxes. If you'd like them packed together in one box, please let us know in the notes section at the checkout.

About the stone

Ammonites are probably the most well-known fossil and lived in the seas between 240-65 million years ago, when they became extinct along with the dinosaurs. The name Ammonite originates from the Greek Ram-horned god called Ammon. Ammonites are believed to have lived in shallow warm waters and moved by jet propulsion.

When Ammonites where first discovered they were thought to be snakes that had been turned into stone with their heads cut off. In order to perpetuate the legend, local collectors and dealers in fossils frequently carved heads on them. Used as charms, Ammonites were thought to be a protection against serpents, and a cure for baldness and infertility.
