About the stone
Tourmaline is one of the most versatile gemstones found in many different colours, ranging from reds and pinks, through greens and blues, to yellows into browns and black. It is found in various places in the world, the biggest source being from Brazil, it is also found in Africa, Afghanistan and the United States. The name "Tourmaline" even comes from the Sri Lanka word "Toramalli", meaning mixed gem.
Tourmaline dates back to the Ancient Egyptians, who believed tourmaline journeyed from the Earth's core and passed through a rainbow, absorbing all its colours. They revered it for its supposed protective and healing properties, using it in amulets and talismans. In ancient Greece and Rome, Tourmaline was believed to inspire artistic creativity and was used by writers, poets, and artists.
Tourmaline is highly regarded in holistic and alternative healing practices for its diverse and potent healing properties. Each colour of Tourmaline is thought to offer unique benefits: Green Tourmaline is associated with promoting compassion and emotional healing; Pink Tourmaline is linked to love; Black Tourmaline is famed for its protective qualities. Additionally, Tourmaline is often used to balance and align the Chakras, promoting mental clarity, reducing stress, and fostering a sense of well-being.
