The chain is one of the most important pieces in any jewellery box collection. It can completely transform the look and feel of a pendant depending on the length and thickness of the chain. One chain most definitely won't do. A selection of lengths and thicknesses of chains are needed so that we have the freedom to interchange depending on the style or neckline of the outfit we are wearing.

How to choose the chain length

Its never easy knowing what chain length you might need. When buying as a gift it can become even harder, always take into account the size of the person you are buying for, if the person is larger than yourself, then you know that they will need a longer length than the one you would need. Here are some pointers:

14": The shortest of our chain lengths, this length is perfect when buying a pendant for a child or as a choker on an adult. Please be aware that this length may be too short for some adults.

16": The shortest in standard length chains this length is perfect for small and petite ladies.

18": Known as the "safe length" this length will fit most adult women but can be too short for ladies of a bigger build.

20" and 22": The perfect length for ladies of a bigger build or for when we want a pendant to hang a little lower.

24" and 30": Perfect for when we want a pendant to hang low, usually layered with other necklaces.

If your buying a chain for a man you will need a longer length, we recommend:

Small men - 18"

Average size men - 20"- 24"

The Chains

Snake Chain

The snake chain is a very tight-linked chain and creates a fluid an elegant look. Please be aware that (except the anti-kink), snake chains can kink when put under pressure so we always advise to take off when sleeping or exercising.

Fine snake chain: The finest of our snake chains, this chain is perfect for smaller, lighter pendants. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 1mm.

Medium snake chain: Our medium thickness snake chain is perfect for medium size pendants. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 1.5mm.

Heavy anti-kink snake chain: Our heaviest of our snake chains, this chain is perfect for large and heavy pendants. Due to its anti-kink nature this chain is a hardy chain and works really well in longer lengths. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 1.8mm.

Curb Chain

The curb chain compromises of flat links that interlock with each other. An ageless design, the curb link is one of the more classical designs.

Fine curb chain: This is the finest of all our chains and should only be worn with small and lightweight pendants. This chain is fastened with a spring bolt clasp. Chain thickness 0.9mm when flat.

Medium curb chain: Our medium thickness curb chain is perfect for small and medium sized pendants. This chain is fastened with a spring bolt clasp. Chain thickness 1.5mm when flat.

Figaro Chain

The figaro chain compromises of sets of three flat links that precede an elongated flat link. The prettiest and most feminine of our chains, this chain is perfect for smaller and lightweight pendants. This chain is fastened with a spring bolt clasp. Chain thickness 1.4mm when flat.

Box Chain

The box chain is formed of small flattened square links which fit together tightly to create a lightweight but strong square profile chain. The box chain creates a smooth, reflective finish that is a favourite for both classic and contemporary jewellery designs.

Fine box chain: This chain is perfect for small to medium pendants. This chain is fastened with a spring bolt clasp. Chain thickness 0.9mm.

Heavy box chain: This chain is a thicker version of the box and can carry medium to large pendants. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 1.3mm.

Belcher Chain

The belcher chain compromises of round or oval links that interlock. An ageless design, the belcher link is a versatile, sturdy chain and is perfect for everyday wear.

Fine belcher chain: The finest of our belchers, this chain compromises of round links and is perfect for smaller lightweight pendants. This chain is fastened with a spring bolt clasp. Chain thickness 1.5mm.

Medium Belcher Chain: I thicker version of the belcher, this chain compromises of round links and is perfect for medium to large size pendants. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 2.3mm.

Oval belcher chain: This chain compromises of oval links and is perfect for medium to large size pendants. This chain is fastened with a lobster claw clasp. Chain thickness 2.8mm.
