About the stone
Opal is the birthstone for October and is renowned for its beautiful flashes of iridescent colour. Around 95% of the world’s opals are produced in Australia. Opal is formed when water seeps into cracks in rock, leaving behind silica that eventually hardens into precious opal.
Opals have always been associated with love and passion, it is a seductive stone that intensifies emotions and releases inhibitions. It is believed to stimulate originality and creativity. Wearing opal is said to bring loyalty, faithfulness and spontaneity.
