About the stone
Onyx is one of the birthstones for Leo and the traditional gemstone for a 7th anniversary. Onyx is believed to be strength-giving. It provides support in difficult circumstances and during times of mental or physical stress. It promotes vigour, steadfastness and stamina. Onyx imparts self-control and is a mental tonic that alleviates overwhelming fears and worries. The name comes from the Greek word onyx, meaning "fingernail" or "claw".
